A Good Enough Fit?

Test and Confirm

Marissa will need to examine the residual plot and the correlation coefficient to determine how well the linear model fits the data.  She found the following:

Correlation Coefficient:  r = 0.982

Residual Plot:

This graph is a residual plot displaying the residuals for the water heating temperatures when a linear regression equation is applied to the data. The horizontal axis represents the time in minutes and extends from negative 1 to 11. The vertical axis represents the residual values and extends from negative 11 to 14. The graph displays the following ordered pairs: (0, 11.95), (1, 4.83), (2, negative 3.29), (3, negative 3.0), (4, negative 3.32), (5, negative 8.24), (6, negative 9.55), (7, negative 5.47), (8, negative 2.79), (9, 5.70), (10, 13.18).
