This website has 6 modules that teach Common Core Algebra ll Statistics and Probability. Each module has interactive lessons, animations that illustrate real-life applications of statistics and probability, resources and a glossary. Explore each module to improve your skills and understanding.

Module 1: Linear, Quadratic and Exponential Regression

In this module, you will:

  • Analyze real-world data in order to predict future outcomes. 
  • Build on your prior understanding of linear, exponential and quadratic models to assess the fit of a regression model using residuals and the correlation coefficient.  
  • Engage in activities that allow you to collect and analyze data, determine a model of best fit, and evaluate the reasonableness of the model selected.
  • Learn to distinguish between correlation and causation.

Module 2: Regression

In this module, you will:

  • Explore key behaviors of other function families, including logarithmic, power, cubic and trigonometric functions. 
  • Engage in activities that allow you to collect and analyze data, determine a model of best fit, and evaluate the reasonableness of the model selected.

Module 3: Standard Deviation

In this module, you will:

  • Explore statistical methods to describe the spread of data.
  • Work with two new concepts, mean absolute deviation and standard deviation.
  • Learn the difference between the two deviations and when one is more appropriate to use.

Module 4: Inferences

In this module, you will:

  • Study different weather events.
  • Collect samples that represent certain populations.
  • Make inferences from the data you collect. When you make an inference, you are drawing a conclusion based on evidence and reasoning.

Module 5: Probabilities of Compound Events

In this module, you will:

  • Build on your prior understanding of probability to include compound events.
  • Examine independent and dependent events, and describe events as subsets of a sample space. 
  • Determine whether events are independent or dependent.
  • Apply the Addition Rule and interpret answers in terms of the context provided.
  • Construct and interpret two-way tables of data.

Module 6: Conditional Probability

In this module, you will:

  • Find and interpret probabilities.
  • Explore conditional probabilities, and use the conditional probability to determine if two events are independent.
  • Work with two-way tables as you analyze conditional probabilities and possible outcomes.
  • Use your knowledge of probability to maximize the probability of desired outcomes.
