Image description: Andrew and Allyson are standing on a hill overlooking a large field of pine trees.
Andrew: Wow, this is an amazing pine tree farm. How long has your family owned the farm?
Allyson: My grandfather started the farm about 60 years ago. It has been in the family ever since.
Andrew: I see that some sections of the farm have larger trees than others. How do you know how many trees to plant each year?
Allyson: Each year my family plants a new crop of pine trees to harvest for the winter holiday seasons. Over the years, my family has measured the growth of the pine trees to have an estimate for how many trees to plant each year in order to cut trees at various sizes. We have been able to use models to predict how many to plant each year so we have the desired number of trees at different heights to cut down each year.
Image description: A blank field appears and then as Allyson speaks, trees of various sizes in various locations pop-up on the field. As Allyson continues to speak, a graph appears on screen showing the relationship between the height of a tree and the age of the trees in years. The points plotted on the graph show that as the age of a tree increases, the height also increases.
