Respond to the following question in your Algebra II Journal opens in new window and submit to your teacher.

  • Create a two-way table following these instructions:
    1. Select a year from the dropdown menu. Next, wait for the next page to load completely.
    2. Select a state from the "Step 1 Select State" menu. Click "All States/Territories." Note that it may take a few minutes for the page to load completely. Once the page loads with the list of states, select a state and continue with the steps below.
    3. Identify the health/safety topic that you would like to analyze by making a selection from the “Step 2 Select Row” menu.
    4. Make a selection for another category to analyze against your selection for the row from the “Step 3 Select Column” menu.
    5. You may choose to select Controls in the next two menus, but this is optional.
    6. Select the Statistics that you’d like to appear in your table from “Step 6 Select Statistics.”
    7. Click “Run Report.”
  • Develop three different conditional probabilities that can be answered from your table.
  • Provide the answers to your conditional probabilities.
  • Determine if the two events in your table are independent or dependent of each other. Use what you know about conditional probabilities to support your answer.
